Ctrls – A Joyful Noise

For the second in the Joyful Noise Series we caught up with DJ and producer Ctrls in Copenhagen. Ctrls is the moniker of Troels Knudsen who has since 2012 been releasing on the Token label. Since the 2012 release of his Interface EP which was followed by a remix of Ø/ [Phase]‘s Binary Opposition Ctrls tracks had worked their way into the sets of some of the most notable techno DJ’s across the world.

Ctrls has been immersed in music for most of his life. His focus has been primarily the club world and he spent over 10 years producing, performing, engineering and DJ’ing various electronic genres around Europe and beyond. This activity generated the Pyro drum’n’bass moniker, house works as part of 2400 Operator on Underground Quality and the industrial tinged techno project Northern Structures on Sonic Groove.

A Joyful Noise is a series of interviews curated by Sign Records, discussing rare, remarkable records with artists, producers and creative, critical thinkers.
